Hash Flash

Hash FlashThe Hare: Rapunzel
The Co-hares: Pee Wee (Beer Stop),
Three Hogs Fcuking (Trailmarking Assistant)

The Harriers (in order of payment): Moonie-chan, Guru Guru, Mrs Link, Chu Chu, The Bladder Blow, Master Shafter, Hendawane, Kick My Balls, Niku Doko?, French Tickler, Seventy Percent, Oshima-san, Kakapupu, Jun-san II.

Trail Report: It is not common to return to a venue only five weeks later, especially if it's the same Hare. But five weeks ago heavy rain made normal hashing (if 'normal hashing' isn't an oxymoron) practically impossible so the Hare ran a mostly improvised Trail of only about 2 km. But he still wanted to use the Trail he had planned, hence the decision to return so soon. So the Trail was marked but then the Trailmarking Co-hare fuktov even before anyone else appeared! Something about some kind of lesson somewhere.

The Trail started out southwards and turned right on Route 122 to a CB. The on-on was in the opposite direction, onto a footbridge (as seen in the Hash Flash thumbnail) and into Asukayama park. There were more CBs down the other side of the hill and Check 1 was beside the children's play area, with its on-on leading past the museums. Then there was a boomerang: along the east side of Hongo-dori then across and 150 metres back along the west side. Check 2 lay beside the Goethe Memorial Museum, then the Hare made maximum use of a couple of steep bits before Check 3 near Nishigahara 4-chome tram stop. Whoever was the FRB at the time had to run about 200 metres extra round a loop on the approach to Check 4 on Route 122. Then it was roughly northish via another loop and across the Shakujii river.

A little further on, the Pack found the Beer Check, whose on-on led up the steps and into Kita-ku central park. here the Trail followed the then dry water feature, only to loop back along the path beside it. Elsewhere in the park, the Pack were led past naked women, across a gateball area and over a huge mound of rotting vegetation of some kind. After the park and Check 6, it was further west almost to the Saikyo line tracks, then south and down through a park to the river. Here the Hare could have simply sent the Pack east along the river bank. But no: he sent them a little way west and across the river before inviting them to head for the finish.

On the way back along the river banks, the Hare placed a few CBs and made use of the numerous areas of greenery where perhaps the river used to meander in bygone times before it was neatly channelled. Check 7 lay at a 7-way junction, and one of the side loops involved the rickety suspension bridge previously encountered at Run 118 but there were no reports of anyone falling over on it this time.

The first Hasher to appear at the end was earlier than expected - mainly because he went checking west at Check 4, then headed north off-trail when he heard the on-on calls. The next mark he saw was Check 7 so he found the way back from there, having missed nearly 3 km of the Trail. And where he crossed an earlier part of the Trail he picked up a straggler, who decided to join him on the shorter route to the finish.

Down-downs: awarded to Kakapupu for fukinov early (but not as early as Niku Doko? who didn't even get a down-down for it); the Hares (Three Hogs represented by look-alike Hendawane) for haring; The Bladder Blow (represented by look-alike Moonie-chan) and Jun-san II for faux-FRBing; Master Shafter for DFLing; Mrs Link for Welcome Back and something about the beer stop; Seventy Percent for the second anniversary of her first F3H3 run; Master Shafter for haring last week's run which appeared on TV last Monday; Mrs Link, Hendawane, Kick My Balls, French Tickler and Oshima-san for not appearing on TV; the Hare, Moonie-chan, Guru Guru, Master Shafter and Seventy Percent for green St Patrick's Day shirts; Guru Guru for fukinov slightly early; Mrs Link and Hendawne for Nash Hash shirts from last year; and presumably some people drank for announcements. Finally Kick My Balls, French Tickler, Oshima-san and Jun-san II drank to the Flounder.

AfterHash: where Fukinov is an Art...  when the Hashers departed, Otonashi Water Park fell perhaps not exactly silent but certainly much quieter.
