Hash Flash

Hash FlashThe Hare: Kakapupu
The Co-hares: In Your Dreams, Niku Doko?

The Harriers (mostly in order of appearance): Narita Cheetah, Love Shag, Rapunzel, Seventy Percent, Tiny Tim, Flapping Lips, Dr Doom, Dylan, Wrong Pussy, Cutie Honey, Imura-sensei, Slice Girl, Lee-san, Chuck Chunder, Brian Keene, Rob Ferguson, Rob Culen, Moonie-chan, Roman Style, Coming Round the Corner, Kick My Balls, Oshima-san, Dog Face, Takahashi Miko-san, Muff Diver, Jelly Mouth, Guru Guru.

Trail Report: The meeting place was just 20 metres from Mejiro station and at 7:10, when usually only a few hashers would have arrived, there were already 20 of them beginning to feel the chill. Again unusually, only about 5 more arrived after 7:20. At 7:30 Niku Doko asked the Pack to carry their bags to a nearby taxi rank before starting the run.

It was an open secret that point B was the Hare's new home and some of the Pack knew, if only approximately, where that was. Hence it was no surprise that most of the on-ons from Checkpoints and CBs led away from the rising full moon. Trail highlights included Hikawa shrine (not the famous one in Omiya!), a very steep uphill CB, the perimeter of the locked-up Yakuoin gardens, a stretch along the banks of Myoshojigawa, Goryo shrine, Arai Yakushi park and Heiwanomori park. There was an infinity loop at Kitano shrine but the FRBs found the way out of the loop without even going into it. Only one Hasher ran the loop and afterwards claimed that the sights of the shrine more than made up for the extra distance.

Although there was no live Hare on Trail tonight, there were numerous hare-snarings! Several of the Pack accepted the Hare's invitation to "snare" a statue of a hare standing at the top of a flight of steps. Unfortunately your Scribe is now unable to recall the location with any certainty. There should have been six Checks but there were only five because the Hares simply forgot to mark one of them.

On arriving at point B, the Pack stood around outside for a while to cool off before going up to the Hare's home. There was plenty of rice, two big pots of veggie and non-veggie lightly curried stew, some "Boar's Head" stout ale from Rapunzel's secret laboratory, a fridge full of beer and thirty Hashers to consume it all. At his 11th F3H3 run, it was finally decided to give Lee-san ("Water") a Hash name and thanks to an incident at the Kanto Hashes joint Christmas party four weeks ago, several of the suggestions were rather contemptuous. From a shortlist of three names, by volumetric majority the Pack finally chose Spermless.

Down-downs: awarded to the FRBs Kick My Balls and Rob Culen (as a sub for Rob Ferguson); the DFLs Narita Cheetah and Love Shag; the Hare and Co-hares; Visitors and Virgins Tiny Tim, Flapping Lips, Brian Keene, Rob Ferguson, Rob Culen and Takahashi Miko-san; Spermless for his naming; and finally Rob Culen, Jelly Mouth and Guru Guru for announcements.

AfterHash: where Fukinov is an Art...  there was left-over beer so there was great temptation to stay longer but the Pack gradually disappeared according to how far they had to go and their last train times, also taking into account the 1200-metre walk to Nakano station. The Co-hares stayed late into the night to help the Hare restore order after the Pack had departed.
