Trail Report: Despite the complications of arriving at the world's busiest railway station, finding one of the 200 exits then following the half-kilometre trail to the obscure spot behind Shin Chuo Building chosen by this week's Hare, seventeen Hashers succeded before 7:30. However, in view of this Hare's reputation for attracting rain to a Hash, the chosen spot seemed barely appropriate: the adjacent structure, which looked as if it should be supporting a roof, had no such thing. There were assurances that, should it rain, the Hash could move to a nearby place where Hashers and their bags could keep dry.

The Trail started out southwards but soon turned east near Minami-Shinjuku station. Then the Pack came to a halt at a level crossing, although the arrows pointed up onto the adjacent footbridge. When the first train had passed, the barriers stayed down for another one but still only three Hashers used the bridge. Then there was a check just north of Yoyogi station, with the on-on leading up to the elevated walkway, across the tracks and down at the south end of Takashimaya Times Square. Somewhere around here, a very light rain started falling.

From Check 2 at Shinjuku-5-east crossing (another Hare who likes to put checks at junctions of major streets!) the Trail led the Pack through a variety of scenery: the grounds of Hanazono shrine, a maze of restaurant-lined alleys, a genty curving tree-lined path, the gaudy love hotels of Kabuki-cho and the Korean restaurants of Hyakunin-cho; on the way to Check 3 near the south end of Shin-Okubo station. The on-on led even further north before a left turn towards Nakano. Just as Kakapupu was thinking of dropping in at home for a self-service beer stop, he ran into a CB.

The on-on led under the Chuo line tracks then south-westwards to the concrete channel of the Kanda river. The Pack followed the river bank to Check 4 at Ome-kaido (another major street!), then while the FRBs were checking, the rain became heavier. At the next Checkpoint, half a kilometre further, again on a major street but away from crossings, some of the FRBs were distinctly unenthusiastic about checking. The on-on was across the street and through Shinjuku Central Park. After a turn east along Minami-dori the arrows were all but washed away in the rain so several Hashers who didn't see that the Trail entered the pedestrian tunnels had to find their own way back.

When the Pack reached the end, the Trail had become A to A': the Hares had moved everyone's bags about 70 metres to the shelter of a covered walkway, forcing grumbly-looking commuters to walk a few metres in the rain. Hashers, on the other hand, having run kilometres in the rain, hogged the shelter to dry off externally and replace fluids internally with imported beers such as Bass Pale Ale (UK), Hite Stout (Korea) and Löwenbräu (Bavaria). The Hares lived up to their reputation for providing tasty snacks, which might explain why so many of those who usually take the "Fukov" bit too seriously stayed until the end. The snacks included a bag of delicious little tomatoes but it trasnpired, when a certain harriette finished the Run, that she had bought them for her own consumption and she was shocked to see that the Pack (What a greedy lot!) had already scoffed most of them. She should have hidden them better! With much of the narrow, L-shaped space under the shelter occupied by bags, beer and snacks, the Hashers didn't have much space to move around, and forming a Circle simply wasn't attempted but the usual ceremony was held.

Down-downs: awarded to Kuramoto-san for her Virginity (with Kakapupu, who made her come) and for fukinov early; the Hares for haring and tasty snacks; Kakapupu for FRBing; Crusader for DFLing; Khuming Rouge, Khuming Round the Khorner and Khuti Honey for Welcome Back; Guru Guru for SCBing; Jelly Mouth for abandoning the Run after only a few minutes due to the absence of Trail marks; In Your Dreams for not even attempting the Run; Coming Round the Corner for queueing up for ages at a new doughnut shop (whose doughnuts are reputedly revolting) before the run; Hula Girl for her tomatoes; Inside 'er Trading for leaving his rugby shirt behind after Run 134 but not even noticing that he'd left it; Love Shag for finally receiving the souvenir drink bottle she'd left behind after Run 119; Hula Girl for the usual suspicions about love hotels; the Hare for attracting rain to the hash so often (now 40% of his F3H3 runs), nominated by Coming Round the Corner, who herself drank for actually being the F3H3 Hare with the highest rain ratio (50%); Niku Doko? for niku day (Feb 9, 二九の日); Khuming Rouge, Pee Wee, I Have The Clap, Calinton, Jelly Mouth and Crusader for announcements; and finally probably Roman Style, Sekiyu Dorobo, Moonie-chan, Wrong Pussy and Hurdy Gurdy Man drank to the Flounder.

AfterHash: where Fukinov is an Art...  one Hasher took the Marunouchi line to Myogadani, having parked his bicycle near there, then apparently cycled home from there.
