Trail Report: One Hasher was apparently so enthusiastic about tonight's Run that he arrived at Akasaka station two hours early! Or maybe it was because of something about teeth. The Hares, however, were enjoying coffee - or maybe it was beer - somewhere nearby. When they reappeared, a few more Hashers had already arrived so it was quite a procession to the starting point in Hikawa park, previously used at Run 99. As 7:30 approached, the beer-stop Co-hare encouraged the pre-run Circle to practise calling out "On Up", warning that it would be a very useful phrase on tonight's Trail.

Indeed, there were on Trail many places where Hashers were called upon to climb steps or steep slopes. The Trail started out southwards (similar to Run 99) but turned east then northwards near Tameike-Sanno station. When the Trail led up the steps to Hie Shrine, at least one Hasher succumbed to the temptation to use the escalator. The arrows then led via a CB up the other steps, round the outside of the shrine grouds and north to Nagatacho station, which served as an underpass. Then it was west along the north side of the main street, where a lone Hasher followed the arrows up and over the footbridge to find - as expected - a CB.

The Pack then followed the Trail north, through Shimizudani park then left to the inner bank of the palace moat and north to Yotsuya station, where the Co-hare lay in wait with beer and water. Beside him there was a strangely talkative lady who, for the entire duration of the beer stop, made comments in Japanese addressed to nobody in particular. When the Pack had gone she started speaking to the Co-hare in fluent English! From Yotsuya station the Trail took a fairly direct route roughly southwards via a footbridge over Aoyama-dori. A little further south the Pack found the Hare checking that the Trail was still marked near the TBS building, and from there it was a simple run in to the finish.

Appropriately for a St Patrick's Day pre-lube, a good supply of Guinness extra stout awaited the Pack. Perhaps less appropriate but still welcome was the bag of warm sausages ready for conversion to hot dogs. Or warm dogs. On the subjects of stout and dogs, the recently returned Crusader presented the new-look Duskin, fresh from his stay at the boarding kennels, where the staff over-fed and under-exercised him, leaving him much stouter than usual. Even though he didn't run, Duskin took his share of after-run beer, seizing the opportunity to polish off the dregs from a beer mug while its owner visited the toilet.

Down-downs: awarded to The Hares for haring and for something about "half black, half white", FRB Rapunzel; DFL Crusader; Welcome Back for Three Hogs, Gecko, and Fujiyamas (represented by lookalike Wrong Pussy); Kakapupu for operating the beer stop; Headshot, Three Hogs and Wrong Pussy for using mechanical conveyance on Trail; In Your Dreams for buying happoshu; Headshot for turning up for the hash about two hours early; Crusader for bringing a stout dog to a hash involving stout and warm dogs; Rapunzel and Crusader for letting Duskin finish Rapunzel's beer; French Tickler for wearing a pink hat; Hurdy Gurdy Man for wearing a scout hat; Spermless for hopping around like a puppet on strings; Chucky, Hurdy Gurdy Man and Wrong Pussy for racism; Pee Wee for looking like a snow girl; Gecko for something about snowshoes; Seventy Percent for hanging on to the last can of Guinness; Hurdy Gurdy Man's friend Emi for coming to meet him for a date; Jelly for arriving very late; Pee Wee, Chucky, Seventy Percent and Crusader for announcements; and finally Master Shafter, Roman Style and Spermless drank to the Flounder.

AfterHash: where Fukinov is an Art...  instead of the usual sake, Jelly brought to the hash a can of beer from Niigata, which the GM gratefully accepted.
